About BIRDNET

BIRDNET has been created, and is maintained, by the Ornithological Council as a service to ornithologists and the general public.

BIRDNET is an online repository of information about the science of ornithology, and about issues of interest to ornithologists.

The site is intended to provide information to professional ornithologists, and to members of the general public interested in learning more about both the scientific study of birds and the application of information from that study to conservation and other problems affecting or associated with birds.

BIRDNET also provides selected links to other sites concerning other aspects about birds. Topics for these sites include birding, bird-related ecotourism, and conservation issues broader than those applying primarily to birds.

Our financial support comes from our member societies and from individual ornithologists who value our work. If the resources here are valuable to you, please consider supporting us through the ‘Donate’ button at the bottom of this page. Thank you for your support!
